Job description

Clinical Nurse – Physiotherapist positions available 

Full time – Perm and fixed term contract available 

A Senior RN with relevant experience looking for a career upskill will also be considered 

Role Purpose 

To provide leadership, support and guidance to other care staff in the provision of quality care based on assessed residents that enhance and promote quality of life, ensuring that care is consistent with the mission of  the healthcare provider and current best practice.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of care plans to meet residents’ health care needs and to promote quality of life.
  • Delivering direct and comprehensive nursing care and individual case management to residents in an expert manner that is consistent with  standards and the Aged Care Quality Standards.
  • Comprehensive and timely maintenance of service and documentation/reporting to the standard required by the Aged Care Quality Standards
  • Collaboration with relevant nursing staff to identify and improve on the nursing, personal care and lifestyle needs of residents.
  • Apply sound clinical skills including knowledge of the ageing process & relevant diseases.
  • Apply biological, social & behavioural theoretical knowledge applicable to aged care.
  • Assist in research relevant to clinical matters.
  • Assist in ensuring optimum funding is achieved from ACFI for all residents.

Interpersonal relationships and Health & Safety

Actively participate in professional and performance development processes to meet own career and industry needs. Always comply with  policies and procedures including workplace health and safety procedures, and actively encourage others to do the same, to ensure all risks to health and safety are identified and effectively controlled

 

  • Maintain a physical and psychosocial environment for residents that promotes safety, security, well-being and optimum health.
  • Identify and report all relevant risks and incidents according to the relevant policies.
  • Provide leadership to Assistant Nurses and Personal Carers, including training, performance appraisals and task delegation.
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to the implementation and maintenance of Aged Care Quality Standards.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with members of the health care team and promote effective team decision-making and care-planning.
  • Maintain a physical and psychosocial environment for residents that promotes safety, security, well-being and optimum health.
  • Identify and report all relevant risks and incidents according to the relevant policies
  • Provide leadership to Assistant Nurses and Personal Carers, including training, performance appraisals and task delegation.
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to the implementation and maintenance of Aged Care Quality Standards.
  • Actively participate in professional and performance development processes to meet own career and industry needs.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as directed by your manager that are reasonable and within the limits of your position’s expected skillset, competency and training

Experience & Competencies

  • Tolerance, patience and empathy toward aged persons or those with a disability.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated competence in clinical problem-solving skills in health care service in accordance with the Code of Ethics for Nurses in Australia.
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality and privacy of residents, and resident information.
  • Knowledge of Aged Care reforms, quality and accreditation frameworks and ACFI Knowledge of clinical needs and current nursing procedures for aged care recipients.
  • Demonstrated leadership skill and experience

Formal Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and registration to practice in Queensland.
  • Bachelor of Nursing, or equivalent qualification.
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate or willingness to obtain if required.
  • National Police Certificate.
