Job Title: Mental Health Nurse

Employment Type: Full-time permanent
Position Overview: We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Nurse to join a reputable healthcare facility in Sydney. As a key member of the mental health team, you will provide high-quality care and support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, promoting recovery and wellbeing in a therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with clients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver evidence-based nursing interventions and therapeutic interventions to support clients in achieving their recovery goals.
- Monitor clients’ mental health status, including assessment of risk factors and implementation of appropriate interventions to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- Administer psychiatric medications and monitor their effects, providing education and support to clients and their families about medication management and side effects.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions, psychoeducation programs, and other therapeutic activities to enhance clients’ coping skills and social support networks.
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and maintain comprehensive clinical records in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with community mental health services, primary care providers, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless transitions of care and support continuity of treatment for clients.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered Nurse qualification with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or relevant specialty highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Mental Health Nurse in an acute mental health setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health assessment tools, psychiatric disorders, and evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Strong clinical skills in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards and best practice guidelines in mental health nursing.
- Eligibility to work in Australia without sponsorship.
