Registered Nurse – Medical Ward

Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Provide comprehensive and compassionate nursing care to patients admitted to the Medical Ward, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs monitoring, symptom assessment, and medication reconciliation. Regularly monitor and evaluate patients’ progress, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in condition.
Treatment Planning and Implementation: Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients. Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with procedures as per prescribed orders and established protocols.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes. Provide concise and timely reports during shift handovers and interdisciplinary meetings.
Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families on their medical condition, treatment plans, and self-care strategies. Empower patients to actively participate in their care and make informed decisions regarding their health.
Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, including physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff. Contribute to a cohesive and supportive team environment.
Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols and ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff. Practice proper hand hygiene and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
Professional Development: Stay up to date with current nursing practices, research, and evidence-based guidelines. Actively participate in continuing education programs and professional development activities to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Previous experience in a medical ward or acute care setting is highly desirable.
Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to delivering patient-centered care and maintaining professional standards.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
